For 6-12 year olds
We have six workshops during the winter break this year. The workshops provide interesting activities and challenges to keep both the students and the animals entertained.
Explore the Rainforest
Monday 7th & 14th of July 9am-12pm
This is a new workshop in which the children will learn about the tapir and other rainforest creatures. We get a chance to compare rainforest mammals and learn about how and where they live. They will learn about the value of camouflage in the rainforest. The children will make special treats for the tapir and will observe how they use their flexible snout.
Chimp Challenge
Wednesday 9th & 16th of July 9am-12pm
In Chimp Challenge the children get a special opportunity to go behind the scenes to meet Mogo Zoo’s chimps, Holly and Luis. We design and create toys with hidden treats to stimulate their intelligence. We can observe how similar and different chimpanzees are to us and even get a chance to eat like a chimp.
Primate Playtime
Friday 11th & 18th of July 9am-12pm
In the Primate Playtime the children will spend time observing our siamang gibbons and other primates. Then they will design and make a variety of toys for the primates. The keepers will transport them to the primate islands and other enclosures. The children will observe how the primates enjoy their new toys and challenges.
Bookings are essential as numbers are strictly limited.
Please phone (02) 4474 5130 or visit the zoo reception.
The cost is $25 and includes zoo entry. Please bring your own hat, sunscreen, morning tea and water. Please arrive 10 minutes early to the workshop.
